The Partaja Plac Program deals with Partajas, a special housing model which has developed over the last century in Serbia. Belgrade, is striving to achieve better standards of living for its citizens and become an EU standard city, with its housing SDGs focusing on preserving cultural identity, including marginalized and poor, and resolution of ownership issues.
The Donji Dorcol district is threatened by privatization, large-scale investments and gentrification. Based on the framework of the SDGs for Belgrade, the project aims to identify ways toward a more sustainable development of the area. The Partajas have special historic and heritage significance. They are low-density housing in the city center with the possibility to become an excellent base for building strong heterogeneous communities. The demonstrated project focuses on activating the Partaja communities for social and urban resilience. Through a participatory approach, the project tries to inform, activate and eventually empower the citizens to better their own living situations through small-scale interventions. In turn, the project also contributes to maintaining affordable, sustainable housing in the center of Belgrade.
